According to ClickBank’s official support article on gravity, the score is calculated using a proprietary formula that weights recent sales more heavily than older ones within a 12-week rolling window. Each unique affiliate who makes a sale contributes to the score, with the exact weight determined by how recently the sale occurred.
A study by AffiliateFix community members tracking 500+ ClickBank products over 6 months found that products with gravity scores between 40 and 120 had the highest average affiliate earnings — outperforming both very high gravity (200+) and very low gravity (under 20) products in terms of actual commission generated per affiliate.
How to Track Gravity Score Changes Over Time
ClickBank does not show historical gravity data in the marketplace. To track changes over time:
- Screenshot the marketplace weekly for your top 20 products in your niche
- Use CBEngine.com — a third-party tool that tracks historical ClickBank gravity data and trend lines
- Set a monthly review date — check your promoted products’ gravity on the 1st of every month
- Watch for drops of 30+ points — a gravity drop this large usually means affiliates are abandoning the product due to low conversions or a refund rate increase
